Andaman and Nicobar Police 

The Andaman and Nicobar Police have got a very strong history from 1858, the time since ‘SEBUNDY CORPS’ were made for the protection of Penal Settlements in the Andaman. It was reconstructed in 1867 with strength of 2 Inspectors, 3 Head Constables, 12 Sergeants and 285 Constables. A categorized form of policing in Andaman and Nicobar was built up in August, 1875 with the enhancement of Indian Police Act of 1861 to Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In the equivalent year the Chief Commissioner of Andaman and Nicobar was approved with the powers and functions of the Inspector General of Police. The first officer of the Indian Police delegated as Commandant and Superintendent of Police was Mr. HGL Biggie.  The post of chief of Police was updated as Director General of Police in the year 2007 and the present.

Rajesh Malik, IPS is the Director General of Police of Andaman and Nicobar Island. The headquarters of Andaman and Nicobar Police is situated at Port Blair. The main goal of Andaman and Nicobar Police is to give quality administration in accordance with the targets of the Police Force, spelt out in the Police Act and the Andaman and Nicobar Police Manual.
