Pay Scale: Rs.5200-20200/- + GP Rs. 2000/-
Selection Process : Through Physical Endurance, Measurement Test & Computer Based Written Test.

About Delhi Police
Delhi has a long past of policing thru the renowned institution of the Kotwal. Malikul Umara Faqruddin is said to be the initial Kotwal of Delhi. Because of his honesty and wisdom he had a very long term, holding the post thru the regions of 3 Sultans Balban, Kaikobad & Kaikhusrau.
An organized form of policing was recognized by the British afterward the first war of freedom in 1857, with the acceptance of the Indian Police Act in 1861. Delhi being a portion of the Punjab, stayed a unit of the Punjab Police even after becoming the Capital of India in the year 1912. In the same time, the initial Chief Commissioner of Delhi was selected and was bestowed with the controls and tasks of the Inspector General of Police.
Delhi Police was reorganized in the year 1946 when its power was almost doubled up. In waken of the partition, a big influx of immigrant population moved in and there was a loud rise in crime in the year 1948. It was on February 16th 1948 that the foremost IGP of Delhi was selected and the total asset of Delhi Police was enlarged by 1951 to around 8,000 with one Inspector General of Police & eight Superintendents of Police. With the increase in the population of Delhi, the asset of Delhi Police kept on growing and in the year 1961, it was above 12,000. Currently, the authorized strength of Delhi Police is 83,762.
