Karnataka TET – Eligibility Criteria
The Teachers Eligibility Test in Karnataka is conducted by the Department of School Education, Government of Karnataka and is also known as known as Karnataka TET. There are specific standards and guidelines set by the Government of Karnataka to select qualifies teachers for filling teacher positions in the government schools across the state of Karnataka in primary (class I -V) and upper primary (VI-VIII) schools. These ranking in the Karnataka TET is also considered by private schools as well for appointing teachers.
Below are the eligibility requirements for Karnataka TET.
Eligibility Conditions of Teachers for Class I-V: Primary Stage (Paper – I): –
A pass in PUC or Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks as aggregate and passed or appearing in final year of 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education.
Or PUC / Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks as total and passed or appearing in final year of 4 year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
Or Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks as aggregate and passed or appearing in final year of 2 year Diploma in Education under Special Education Scheme.
Or B.A / B.Sc. Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education or any other equivalent qualification.
Eligibility Conditions of Teachers for Classes VI- VIII: Elementary Stage (Paper – II)
A pass in B.A / B.Sc. Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education
Or B.A / B.Sc. Graduation with at least 50% marks as aggregate and passed or appearing in 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.).
Or PUC / Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks as total and passed or appearing in final year of 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
Or a pass in PUC / Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks as total and passed or appearing in final year of 4 year B.A /B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed. /B.Sc.Ed.
Or a pass in B.A / B.Sc. Graduation with at least 50% marks as total and passed or appearing in 1 year B.Ed. (Special Education).
Eligibility Conditions of Teachers for Classes I – VIII: Elementary Stage (Paper – I and II)
A pass in PUC / Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks as aggregate and passed or appearing in final year of 4 year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
Or B.A / B.Sc. Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
There will be age relaxation of 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility for the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC / ST / C-I / Differently abled.
A Diploma/Degree course in teacher education recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) or a Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.ED (Special Education) or an equivalent course approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) also shall be considered as eligibility criteria in the notification.
