Kerala TET Eligibility Criteria
The Teachers Eligibility Test in the state of Kerala is administered by the Department of School Education, Kerala or concerned examination board as instructed by Government of Kerala. This eligibility test is known as Kerala TET and is conducted by the Government to find out equality and to create standardization in the field of education. The person who wish to join in Government schools should need to pass this Teachers Eligibility Test and the score will be considered in private sector also.
The candidates who wish to become teachers in primary (class I -V) and upper primary (VI-VIII) schools in the state of Kerala may check the notifications coming live for this test. Below are the eligibility criteria to appear for this test.
Category –I Teachers for Lower Primary classes: –
A pass in Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least aggregate of 45% marks and two year Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent qualification.
Or a pass in Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 45% marks in total and 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education, in accordance with the Recognition Norms and Procedure of NCTE, Regulations 2002.
Or a pass in Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks as aggregate and 4 year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
Or a pass in Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks as aggregate and 2 year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
Category –I Teachers for Upper Primary classes: –
A pass in B.A/B.Sc./B.Com and 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education or Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent certification.
Or a pass in B.A/B.Sc./B.Com with at least 45% marks as aggregate and 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.), in accordance with NCTE (Recognition, Norms and Procedure) regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
Or a pass in Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks as total and 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
Or a pass in Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks as aggregate and 4 year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed or B.Sc.Ed.
Category III Teachers for High School Classes:-
1) A pass in BA/B.Sc/B.Com with at least 45% marks as aggregate and a B.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned from any one of the Universities in Kerala or have acquired these qualifications from any other Universities recognized by UGC or by act of parliament as equivalent thereto.
2) For subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, those who have MSc.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned with not less than 50% marks as aggregate from one of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by NCERT will be eligible to apply. For Botany and Zoology subjects, those with MSc.Ed. Degree in Life Science with not less than 50% marks in total from any of the Regional Institutes of Education are eligible to apply.
Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks shall be permissible to the candidates belonging to SC/ST and differently abled categories and a 3% in the minimum qualifying marks is permissible for OBC & OEC candidates.
