Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company limited(MAHATRANSCO), a solely possessed corporate entity below the Maharashtra Govt, was combinedin the Companies Act, in June, 2005 after reform the erstwhile Maharashtra State Electricity Board to conveyelectrical energy from its place of Generation to its place of Distribution.

It possesses and functions most of Maharashtra’s Electric Power Transmission Sys. MSETCL functions a broadcast network of 39871 Circuit KM of communication lines & 559 EHV Substations with 89178 MVA conversion capacity. This infrastructure establishes most of the inter regional as well as intra-regionalelectrical power broadcast system in the State. Currently, MSETCL is the biggest state transmission efficacy in the nation.

The company also has the division of being the only controller utility in the state sector to own HVDC lines. The Co.functions a 752 km long, 1500 MW, 500 KV bi-polar HVDC route from Chandrapur to Padghe. This has been striking as a main success as electric power is produced in east of Maharashtra, due to easy obtainability of coal, while the bulk use of power is in the west part of Maharashtra and round cities such as Mumbai, Pune & Nashik. The power damages are very low in the HVDC line. As anend result, the power expected at Padghe is almost the same as what is added at Chandrapur.
