Mizoram University was established in the year 2001 as a central University by the Mizoram University Act (2000) of the Parliament of India, under the University Grants Commission, Government of India. The University stood up with an objective of educating and training the manpower for the social and economic improvement of the state. The Mizoram University is strategically located at Tanhril, Aizawl in the state of Mizoram and the campus is covered with an area of above 978 acres of land.
The Mizoram University is administered by a team of professionals which includes, Visitor, Chief Rector, Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Finance Officer etc. The Honorable President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee is the Visitor of Mizoram University. The Governor of Mizoram is the Chief Rector, and Prof. R. Lalthantluanga is the Vice Chancellor of Mizoram University.
